If there’s one thing that’s certain about the future, it is that all our current ideas about it are likely to be wrong. The future is unknowable, yet all business partly depends on predicting it.
While all research projects, to a higher or lesser degree, aim at looking ahead, predicting trends or the future behaviour of market players, ABE focuses on qualitative interviews and panels to create potential maps of the future.
Scenario Games
Scenario Games are usually based on an initial Market Research study, and then build upon it in order to explore specific questions about trends, the future market environment or the likely behaviour of competitors.
Scenario Games makes use of various different tools, including guided role-play. Equipped with an intelligence dossier on all “knowns”, the players take on the role of various industry stakeholders (such as customers or competitors) to investigate the “unknowns”. They evaluate the most likely future behaviour of actual competitors and other market players.
More generally, Scenario Games can also explore trends and the future market environment. They are usually run with the team facing the challenge, but can also include participants from other departments or external experts.
We facilitate Scenario Games at attractive locations in the Swiss Alps, in Madrid or London, or at other suitable locations. We usually suggest not to hold scenarios games at the client’s offices – we want participants to get out of their usual environment and mindset.
